Dr. Soumen Roy is a highly experienced Surgical Gastroenterologist, HPB and Liver Transplant Surgeon, and Senior Consultant in the Department of GI, HPB Surgery and Liver Transplantation at Apollo Hospitals, Bhubaneswar.
With over 18 years of surgical experience, he has performed complex procedures involving the liver, pancreas, gall bladder, bile duct, oesophagus, stomach, colon and rectum. His key areas of expertise include hepatobiliary and pancreatic cancers, gastro-oesophageal and colorectal cancers, advanced laparoscopic and robotic gastrointestinal surgery, liver transplantation, and bariatric surgery.
Dr. Roy completed his MBBS at SCB Medical College and trained in General Surgery at PGIMER, Chandigarh. He subsequently obtained his MCh in GI Surgery and Liver Transplantation from AIIMS, New Delhi. He further completed a fellowship in Liver Transplantation at Apollo Hospital, New Delhi, and training in Minimal Access Surgery at Max Hospital, New Delhi. He also pursued an international organ transplant fellowship at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden.
His liver transplant team in Bhubaneswar has successfully completed 10 liver transplants, helping bring internationally benchmarked transplant care closer to patients in Odisha.
