Liver is vulnerable to several types of cancers, such as Hepatocellular Carcinoma, Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma and Hepatoblastoma.

Hydatid disease is associated with the parasitic infestation of a tapeworm of the genus named Echinococcus. It is mostly passed between sheep and dogs.

There are veins which carry blood from the various digestive organs to the liver. When there is an obstruction in the free flow of blood in the liver, it increases the pressure.

Cancerous liver tumors are classified as primary (originating in the liver) or metastatic (spreading from elsewhere in the body)

Extrahepatic portal venous obstruction (EHPVO) is a common cause of major and life threatening upper gastrointestinal bleeding among Indians.
